Heru Emphasizes Construction of NCICD and Development of Historical Tourism Areas

Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono, officially opened the Development Planning Forums (Musrenbang) 2024 for the North Jakarta administration held at the North Jakarta Mayor's Office, Tanjung Priok, Thursday (3/21).

The point or headline in this Musrenbang is the development of historical areas

In the activities held to prepare the Jakarta Regional Government Work Plan (RKPD) for 2025, Jakarta Acting Governor Heru emphasized the development of historical tourism areas and the construction of National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (NCICD) coastal safety embankments.

“Jakarta has flooding challenges that must be resolved immediately. Floods here are caused by tidal waves or high-intensity rain. This is not easy to deal with this case. That's why, there must be an NCICD and a coastal safety embankment in Jakarta," he expressed in the Jakarta Government's press release.

According to him, there was land subsidence in the North Jakarta area, which was also one of the causes of flooding. Thus, if the NCICD was not built, it would be difficult to resolve the flooding problem in North Jakarta. Moreover, its construction should synergize with the Central Government.

"As we can see, especially in North Jakarta, land subsidence can reach between 70 centimeters to one meter. So, it would be impossible to handle floods without NCICD. The costs are indeed quite large, but if we are jointly committed to it with the Central Government, it can be built. Because, not only in the North Jakarta area but nationally, from Jakarta to Semarang there must be a sea wall," he explained.

Another thing that is also a priority in the Musrenbang discussion is that the North Jakarta administration must be developed into a historical tourism area oriented on the history of Jakarta's birth.

"The point or headline in this Musrenbang is the development of historical areas to commemorate the birth of Jakarta. So, in 2025, one of the icons in Jakarta will be North Jakarta as a historical tourist area where the city of Jakarta was born," he explained.

Further, global conditions could be a guide or stepping stone for Musrenbang participants in preparing for the RKPD 2025. This was because one of the keys to the success of Jakarta Province is the North Jakarta area, which is an export-import area with the Tanjung Priok Port.

"World economic conditions will experience a slowdown until the second semester of 2024. We must be united from all levels of society, from entrepreneurs, and residents, to Forkopimda to maintain the economic cycle in Jakarta and inflation," he uttered.

North Jakarta Mayor, Ali Maulana Hakim added four priority issues would be addressed in the North Jakarta area. The first is the construction of the NCICD coastal safety embankment which was aimed to deal with tidal floods on the north coast of Jakarta. The second is the construction of the Cakung Lama-Pegangsaan Dua River sheet pile to overcome flooding in Kelapa Gading and Cilincing.

"The third is road improvements along the Marunda access road to support economic activity, and the last is building an expansion of the sub-district health center to accommodate the Health Center services. We'll also follow up on the Acting Governor's direction regarding the development of historical tourism areas in North Jakarta," he closed.
